UPIKE Football improves to 2-3

On Saturday, Sept. 22, a rainy day didn’t stop the UPIKE Bears from steamrolling the Warner University Royals. The final score was 45-14. With this win, the Bears got their second win of the season making their record 2-3.
Most of the Bears’ points came in the second quarter. They scored 17 unanswered points to put them at 31-7 at the half.
UPIKE’s Xondre Willis, junior, led the Bears in rushing yard for the night. With 14 attempts he netted 94 yards and career high 3 touchdowns for the night. Bowen Smith, junior, led the Bears in passing yard. Smith had 19 attempts with 12 completions for 146 yards. Braxton Whitmore, senior, led the bears in receiving. Whitmore had 4 catches for 69 yards along with one touchdown.
UPIKE’s next game is on Saturday, Sept. 29 in east Alabama to take on Point University for its first Mid-South Appalachian division contest. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. at Ram Stadium in Valley, Ala.
