Comedian brings laughs to UPIKE

On Tuesday night, Sept. 4, Campus Activities Board (CAB) hosted a comedian at the University of Pikeville in Booth Auditorium, Justin Rupple. Rupple is a Los Angeles based stand-up comedian, actor, and voice actor. You might have seen his amazing impressions on the new USA show “First Impressions” with Dana Carvey, and in the upcoming film Operation Chromite, starring alongside Liam Neeson. When Rupple first arrived to the auditorium, he was impressed. “This is the biggest and nicest place I performed all week. A couple days ago, I was performing in a cafeteria,” Rupple said. He started the show with some stories from his past that would make the students laugh. “I like having smaller groups like this because it is easier for us to connect, and I can tell actual stories that have happened that are funny. Rather than me standing up here reading of material that I came up with,” he said. The crowd seemed to agree with him. Rupple also performed with some of his impressions of characters and actors. Such as: Maui from Moana, and Kronk from The Emperor’s New Groove. The one that stood out the most would be his impression of Stewie Griffin rapping a verse to one of Eminem’s songs. He finished his set with a bit he always does, “How everyone acts in the car based off music.”
