The softball team swept Georgetown on the first day of the series on Friday, April 27. The Bears pitched a shutout in the first game with a final score of 5-0. Kitty Raymond, sophomore, had a monster game with 3 hits and 4 RBIs. In the second game of the day, the Bears won with a final score of 6-4. Seven batters got at least one hit in that game, which propelled the Bears to a 25-17 record overall and a 9-11 MSC record. The next day was not a winning day for the Bears. Georgetown won both games with final scores of 2-1 and 6-1. The offense was not there for the Bears, only scoring 2 runs in 14 innings. In the first game, the Bears only had 1 run in the 4th inning and 1 run in the 3rd. Georgetown caught fire during their second matchup of the day. In the bottom of the 3rd, the Bears allowed 3 runs to come in and that gave the Tigers a 5-1 lead. The Bears couldn’t ever find enough offense to try and complete a comeback. On Sunday, April 29, the Bears started their last regular season series. The first game of the day was a low scoring affair with a Bears win, 3-1. Chandler Kelly, freshman, had 1 hit and 2 RBIs to lead the team to a victory. The second game did not go the Bears’ way, but it was a high scoring game with a final score of 9-5 with KCU coming away with the victory. The series was planned to have two more games, but they were canceled. The team will travel to Bowling Green on May 4 to compete in the MSC Championship.
