The Bears won 2 of 3 against Lindsey Wilson on Friday and Saturday, April 27-28, as they get prepared to head to Bowling Green to play Cumberland from Tennessee for the conference tournament. UPIKE hosted senior week as the men played their last games at home. There were a lot of emotions in the air, as parents from all over the country came to support their seniors for one last ride. Senior pitcher, Dalton, Dahley said, “I can’t believe that this day is here… It felt like just last week, I was starting my first game for UPIKE as a freshman. I know we will go out with a bang though at the tournament, got to leave it all on the field.” Senior shortstop, Matthew Peterson, had a memory that he will remember for his whole life on senior day as he blasted a homerun to left field, stepped on home plate, and pointed straight to his parents who came all the way from California. It was a great weekend for the Bears. In game 1, the Bears came out on fire winning 10-2, as Bruce Bell pitched and held them to two runs. Game 2 of the series was a little more of a battle as UPIKE won 9-7, with Chase Robinson coming in and closing the door for the win. There was a lot of timely hitting by the Bears as they rallied with two outs to score runs later in the game. In game 3, they fell short to Lindsey, 7-4 with Hedgecock coming in to give the Bears a chance for a few innings but they couldn’t quite squeak it out. The Bears finish out the season in 6th place for conference, where it will affect their seeding for the conference tournament. They will be playing at 4 p.m. on live stream.
