Mid-South Conference tournament games kick off

March Madness is coming to Pikeville and the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center this week.
The Women’s Basketball Tournament gets underway on Thursday, March 1 with four quarterfinal games at the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center in Pikeville, Ky. The tournament resumes on Saturday with the semifinals, followed by the championship game on Sunday afternoon.
Shawnee State (Ohio) is the No. 1 seed in the tournament after capturing the regular-season title with a perfect 14-0 record.
Shawnee State (27-3) opens the tournament at 10 a.m. on Thursday against No. 8 seed Life (Ga.) (11-19, 1-13 in the MSC).
Fourth-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.) (19-10, 8-6) faces fifth-seeded Pikeville (Ky.) (14-16, 5-9) in the second quarterfinal at Noon.
The Shawnee State-Life winner faces the Cumberland-Pikeville winner in Saturday’s first semifinal game.
Second-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.) (26-4, 12-2) meets No. 7 seed Georgetown (Ky.) (8-21, 2-12) at 2 p.m.in the third quarterfinal.
Third-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (24-6, 10-4) faces sixth-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) (16-12, 4-10) to close out quarterfinal play at 4 p.m.
The tournament semifinals are scheduled for 10 a.m. and Noon on Saturday, with the championship slated for 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The tournament champion receives the conference’s automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament later in March in Billings, Mont.

In Friday’s second quarterfinal, fourth-seeded Life (Ga.) (20-10, 8-6) meets No. 5 seed Campbellsville (Ky.) (21-9, 6-8) at Noon.
The Pikeville-Shawnee State winner faces the Life-Campbellsville winner in Saturday’s first men’s semifinal game.
The bottom half of the bracket features second-seeded Georgetown (Ky.) (24-5, 9-5) against seventh-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.) (11-17, 4-10) at 2 p.m.
Third-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) (21-8, 8-6) meets sixth-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (21-8, 6-8) in the final quarterfinal matchup at 4 p.m.
The tournament semifinals are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, with the championship slated for 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The tournament champion receives the conference’s automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament later in March in Kansas City, Mo.
