On Feb. 10, the Growlers, UPIKE’s Speech & Debate team, traveled to Owensboro Community and Technical College for the annual Kentucky Forensics Association (KFA) State Tournament. The Growlers participated in 10 events and made it to finals in five of them.
“I am so proud of my team. It was a great season, and I cannot wait to see what next year holds,” Growlers coach, Rachel Little, instructor of communication, said.
Adam Hotelling, freshman, and Tori Breeding, junior, won fourth place in Duo Acting. Hotelling also won third place in Broadcasting, and second place in Informative Speaking. Larissa Jones, freshman, received top novice in Informative Speaking. UPIKE won second place overall in the small school division.
The tournament closed the competition season for the team.
“It was great! I had fun meeting new people and learned so much. We’re all excited for next year,” William Wheeler, freshman, said.
Breeding was also elected treasurer of the KFA for 2018-2019. UPIKE was selected as the site for the 2020 KFA State Tournament.
