Chi Omicron Mu honors new members

On Thursday, Feb. 8, UPIKE’s Communication Honor Society, Chi Omicron Mu, met in Armington 421 for the induction ceremony of its newest members: Hannah Adkins, Corbin Bentley, and Jessica Frazier. The returning students in attendance expressed their excitement to the students nearing the start of the program.
“For me personally, I never got to be in any type of society or be the head of anything. Therefore, I am extremely thankful to be the president of this honor society and build interpersonal relationships with not only other students, but my friends,” said President of Chi Omicron Mu, Robert Rundle.
As the ceremony began, Chandra Massner, advisor and associate professor of communication, said, “The students we pay tribute to today have performed honorably. They have balanced the demands on them and have earned the right to full membership into the honor society representing their chosen field of study.”
The University of Pikeville formed Chi Omicron Mu to honor exemplary students in the communication program. The students honored have shown through their high level of academic achievements that they are deserving of membership into this honor society. Each student was given a certificate of membership.
To be eligible for this communication honor society, students had to complete 30 semester credit hours, have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75, completed 12 credit hours in courses of communication, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in those courses. He or she must be majoring or minoring in communication.
