The no. 6 ranked UPIKE Bears blew out the no. 5 ranked Lindsey Wilson, on Thursday, Feb. 9, in an excited student-filled atmosphere in the Expo Center. The “student section” on Thursday night was loud and full of energy as they stayed ‘til the end to watch the Bears win by 30 points.
“My teammates and I were trying to get into the heads of Lindsey Wilson. They were distracted and definitely off their game. Our coach told us that if we would have won by 50 points, then weights for us would have been cancelled Friday morning,” said C.J. Greenlee, football player at UPIKE.
Jayvian Delacruz lead the Bears to victory by leading the team with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Darrion Leslie was right behind him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Chase Parsley was a point away from a double-double with 9 points and 10 assists.
“This game had to be the best game that I have played in here at UPIKE. The crowd was so into it, which made it more competitive for us. Loudest group we have ever had, which gave us the energy to take the win,” said Brady Schmidt, sophomore at the University of Pikeville.
