Meditate for finals

With finals week coming, a lot of students are stressed and trying to find ways to “detox” from school. Junior Owen Caudill found the perfect stress relief Wednesday, Nov. 30. Owen is taking a class for his social work major that requires them to teach UPIKE students. He decided to teach guided imagery meditation. This form of meditation is gentle but powerful. You are guided through different environments or relaxing settings not only seeing it in your mind’s eye, but experiencing all the senses. The meditation can be anywhere from 10 seconds to an hour; it all just depends on the person. The idea was originally for a way to relax during filing files for a company, but Caudill feels like it is a great way to relax with finals coming up. “Posture and breathing are important, but comfortability will always outweigh the first two when it comes to guided imagery,” Caudill said.
