BUG holds weekly meeting

Monday, Sept. 26, the University of Pikeville’s BUG meeting was held inside the chapel. BUG meetings resume every Monday evening at 8:30 and usually last approximately a half hour or longer. During Monday’s meeting, Larry Blackburn was scheduled to speak, but unfortunately had to reschedule. Therefore, Jay Shepherd offered to fill the position. Prior to group discussion, Teddy Woods took up prayer requests and led a group prayer. Following this, Cortney Dixon led in song, singing hymns like “Holy Spirit” and “My Life is in Your Hands.” Lastly, Jay Shepherd spoke out of the book of Luke, chapter 10. “He called the group to be do-ers and to help those in need around us. To look and see the people around us who are hurting and address their needs,” Woods, student and BUG member, said. The meeting was concluded with a time to comment on the meeting’s message, and many members spoke up. “Everything you do should be done to show the love of God and the importance of love and service,” Woods said. The meeting ended with prayer by Shepherd and will be followed by another weekly meeting on Monday, Oct. 3, in the chapel. All students are encouraged and welcomed to join in fellowship.
