UPIKE starts International Club

Last spring, junior Yu-Chi Hseuh decided to start an international club open to all students. “I started the club to make international students come closer and encourage all students to learn more about different cultures. I hope the club can inspire students to learn about other cultures and grow as a community,” said Hseuh. Right now, the club is in the beginning stages and has 50 members so far. “Thirty international students and 20 American students have joined since club day,” said Hseuh. There are plans to begin fundraising for the club in order to hold group activities. “We have plans to have conversational English classes, cookouts, horseback riding, and any activities students would like to participate in,” said Hseuh. “Our main source of communication right now is through Facebook.” Hseuh hopes the club will grow and that the students will feel more comfortable and connected within the community at UPIKE. “I hope this club can help students to be friendly and open to people from other cultures and inspire them to travel abroad,” said Hseuh.
