UPIKE welcomes new Dean of Students

The 2016 fall semester has brought many new faces at UPIKE. Among these new faces is Dr. Justin Owens, dean of students.
The Dean of Students “has to look at many different situations while remaining fair to everyone. You also have to be an advocate for the student body, and have a good personality to be there for support,” according to Owens.
So far, he is impressed with UPIKE.
“It’s a beautiful, small, campus with a lot of potential,” Owens said.
His previous position was Assistant Dean of Students at Jesuit University. Owens is from a small town in Pennsylvania called Mt. Carmel. He attended Susquehanna University, Old Dominion University, and Clemson University. He was heavily involved as a student leader, and he also enjoyed playing rugby.
Owens had many great things to say about UPIKE. It reminds him of home.
Owens’ office is located in the student service offices on the first floor of the Administration Building. He has an open- door policy when he is not tied up in a meeting, so stop by and give him a warm welcome to the Bear family!
