Students meditate in the chapel

On Wednesday, Feb 3, at 6:30, the University of Pikeville chapel welcomed an honorable guest to speak at her monthly meditation session. Jigitesu Osho, a proud Buddhist, gladly shared her spiritual experience through multiple meditation activities.
As the students gathered around her, Osho talked about her spiritual calling, and the significance of such a life changing event. According to Osho, one of the best ways to live a happy life, in the present and future, is to be mindful.
“If I had to give advice to young people in college, it would be to stay present, feel the moment as you live it.” said Osho.
The key to a happy life, then, is to bring yourself fully into life, and appreciate the present moment. The students sat in a circle and meditated in silence for 20 minutes. Then they performed a relaxing walk inside the chapel to feel the earth beneath them.
Practicing meditation is beneficial to college students by helping them to find peace and cope with stress.
