Sonia Smith began working in late September as the director of career counseling, which is a new position UPIKE. Smith has her bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in Christian education. As a career counselor, Smith works to ensure that all students, especially seniors, are prepared for jobs before they graduate. Smith explained that she chose UPIKE because she was looking for a place that appreciates collaboration and values the students. “It’s beautiful here! The institution and what it stands for. The people here are so hardworking and school spirited,” Smith said. Smith is excited to be working here and connecting with the students as well as the faculty. “I love growth, change, and learning. I love seeing how much is possible. I see a wonderful present and an amazing future here,” Smith said.
