Women’s bowling takes its sixth win for the fall semester

This past weekend in Louisville, Ky., the University of Pikeville women’s bowling team took first place at the Striking Knights Classic hosted by Bellarmine, giving UPIKE its sixth straight win this season. With a total number of 8,843 fallen pins, the Bears outscored their closest competitor in the classic, Lindenwood (Mo.) by 450 pins. Campbellsville – the Bears Mid-South Conference rival – finished in fourth place with just 8,061 pins. KT Simpson,
UPIKE’s individual leader, and Trista Flowers finished in the top 50 overall for the classic; Simpson had a pin count of 1,206 and Flowers with 1,008.
There were three girls from junior-varsity on the leaderboard with Megan Hedgespeth in sixth place with a score of 992 and high game of 225. Kara Crowe finished 16th, Karlee Evans was 19th and Felecia Proctor took 21st place.
The Bears will head for another victory at the Keystone Quaker Classic in Allentown, Penn., Dec. 27-28.
