Bears slash Tigers

Saturday, Nov. 15, the No. 2 UPIKE men’s basketball team beat No. 8 Georgetown by 13. K.K. Simmons led the game in points with 38, but Simmons wasn’t the only Bear in double digits as Kenny Manigault dropped 22; Macari Brooks dropped 20, and Jackson Hussey came off the bench with 10. The Bears led at the half by nine.
The Bears came out in the second half strong making the lead 16 points in the first four minutes of the half, but Georgetown wasn’t giving up as they went on a 21-7 run to bring UPIKE’s lead down to a two-point game. UPIKE quickly answered back with a 10-2 run, and the Tigers never got closer than 11 again.
UPIKE returns to Mid-South Conference against St. Catherine Thursday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m.
