UPIKE mourns loss of local officer

During spring break, the University of Pikeville lowered its flags to half-staff after Pikeville Police Officer Scotty Hamilton was fatally shot in the line of duty.
Officer Scotty Hamilton, age 35 of Harold, Ky., was killed In the line of duty, Tuesday, March 13, at Pikeville, Kentucky.
He was a 12-year veteran of the Pikeville City Police Department. He was a member of the Pikeville United Methodist Church and Virgie Baptist Church.
Officer Hamilton was born at Pikeville, Ky., on Nov. 29, 1982, the son of Wayne and Patricia Leonard Hamilton of Jonancy, Ky.
Along with his parents, he is survived by his wife, Chelsi Elizabeth Lawson Hamilton and his infant daughter, Brynlee Elizabeth Hamilton of the home.
His Paternal Grandmother, Earline Peckham of Jacksonville, Florida and one brother, Jeffery Wayne (Tiffany) Hamilton of Lexington, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers a Trust Fund has been set up and Expressions of Sympathy are suggested to be made Brynlee Elizabeth Hamilton Scholarship Fund, c/o Community Trust Bank, P.O. Box 2947, Pikeville, Ky. 41502.
