UPIKE worships through BUG
0By Summer Maynard
On Monday, March 5, the university held its weekly BUG meeting. In the meeting, students shared prayers, song, and bonding.
Junior, Cassie Gearles, led and spoke about the resurrection of Lazarus. The resurrection of Lazarus, recounted in John 11:1–44, is a miracle of Jesus in which Jesus brings Lazarus of Bethany back to life four days after his burial. In John, this is the last of the miracles that Jesus performs before the Passion and his own resurrection.
“BUG really brings people together through Christ. We share prayers, words, and praises,” said Sydney Bryant, sophomore.
The Blessed Unity of God is a non-denominational spiritual group, that accepts students of all denominations. It was founded about 16 years ago when a group of students came together because they couldn’t go home on Wednesday’s for bible studies.
“I love BUG because it helps me with motivation and inspires me to do better. It makes me want to help others,” sophomore, Jaqueline Pruitt said.
BUG meets on Mondays at 8:30 and is open to everyone.
