Women’s basketball takes down Tigers

Thursday night, Feb. 15 in Georgetown the women’s basketball team played a back-and-forth game. The Bears beat the Tigers by a score of 63-62.
The Tigers had a one-point advantage after the first quarter outscoring the Bears 12-11.
The Bears battled back, which was the story of the night, winning the second quarter 15-11, and taking a 26-23 lead going into halftime.
The Tigers came out of the break ready to play in the third quarter. They outscored the Bears 11-28. Going in to the last frame of play the Bears were trailing 51-37.
At this point a comeback looked improbable for the Bears, but they used a 19-2 run in the first 8 minutes of the quarter to gain a 56-53 lead over the Tigers. Senior Jamie Castle iced the game for the Bears in the final seconds putting them ahead by four points. Georgetown’s Lydia Graves threw in a long 3 at the buzzer to cut the final score down to one.
With this win the UPIKE Women’s Basketball team improve their overall record to 13-14 and the MSC record to 4-7.
