Revenge is best served cold as the UPIKE Bears, men’s basketball team took its third loss of the season Thursday, Feb. 15 against the Georgetown Tigers by a score of 93-74.
“We underestimated them obviously, and we didn’t finish our job on the court tonight, but hopefully we’ll see them again in the playoffs,” said player Darrion Leslie.
The Bears made sure they started the game off strong, but the Tigers still had a 42-40 lead going into halftime as their defense caused the Tigers to outscore the Bears 16-5 in the next 5 minutes.
With 10:29 left on the clock, Shadell Millinghaus made a layup giving the Tigers their first lead of the game. Not long after that, Eljay Cowherd finished through with his two foul shots to get the Tigers up 64-59.
It was all downhill for the Bears from there, leading up to taking their third loss of the season. Their record is now 24-3, 8-3 MSC.
“We fought hard, and I’m proud of my boys today, but we let them get into our heads and mess up our game. We look forward to meeting them in the playoffs this year,” said coach Kelly Wells.
