UPIKE adds new Dean of Student Success

Mathys Meyer, a seven-year faculty member, took the role of Dean of Student Success this year. He has served at UPIKE as an instructor, an assistant professor, an associate professor, the Director of First-Year Studies, and now Dean of Student Success.
Meyer’s new position comes with many responsibilities such as the Center of Student Success, the Academic Assistance Center, the ACE program, First-Year Studies, new student orientation, and the Disability Resource Center.
“I am both an educator and scientist. Over the last few years, however, the educator part has become increasingly important to me. So, I applied for this position because I believe I can affect larger changes that benefit all UPIKE students, rather than just students in my biology courses,” Meyer said.
Meyer hopes to empower students to be successful. He sees everyone playing a role in student success.
“It takes all of campus to make our students successful. My specific role is building connections between every person that interacts with our students on campus and making them realize that students are central to our mission and success as an institution,” he said.
