Students at the University of Pikeville are invited to join in a class trip to Costa Rica in the spring semester. The trip is planned to take place from May 21 – 29. While on the trip, students will take part in several lectures, work at a recycling cooperative, tour the area and spend some time on the beach. Students will be required to have a legal passport and keep a daily journal during their visit As of now, the trip is estimated to cost to students $1,200 – $1,500, and it’s recommended students bring some extra funds for souvenirs and extra meals. The University will cover part of the cost for students through experiential learning. Deposits are set up in payments, starting with a $250 deposit. Students who are interested will enroll in four credit hours of coursework in the 2017 spring semester. Professor of Psychology, John Howie, and Associate Professor of Communication, Chandra Massner, are coordinating the trip. They are aiming to take 12 students with them in the spring, and many spots are still open.
