On Thursday, Sept. 29, the University of Pikeville will be hosting a job fair for students to interview with prospective employers. This event is open to all students and will include employers looking to fill full and part-time jobs and internships, including summer internships.
To prepare students for interviews with potential employers, students can participate in a series of events that the career center is hosting in advance of the interview.
On Tuesday, Sept. 20, an interview workshop will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the student lounge in Wickham Hall. On Thursday, Sept. 22, a representative from Sherwin Williams’ Management Trainee Program will be at the Coleman College of Business from 11 a.m. to noon and at the Walter’s Room of Wickham Hall from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
On Tuesday, Sept. 27, the career center is hosting a job fair preparation at the student lounge of Wickham Hall from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The job fair is Thursday, Sept. 29, on the second floor of Armington from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Among the employers attending the job fair are: The City of Pikeville, Appalachian Pregnancy Care Center, Pikeville YMCA Youth Sports, Pikeville YMCA Fitness, Pikeville YMCA Childcare, Pikeville Medical Center, and Sherwin Williams. Other employers will be present.
According to Sonia Smith, director of career counseling, of the Kentucky Blood Center and Alltech expressed interest to be on campus at a later date.
“We are excited about all the employer opportunities and the ways to prepare for the employer opportunities, and I invite students to come and meet the employers,” Smith said. “This September we have greatly increased the number of connections between students and employers. Employers want to hire UPIKE students and recent alumni.”
