Men fall in tourney

The Bears’ men’s basketball team faced Lindsey Wilson in the first round of the conference tournament on March 4, 2016 but came up short 72-71.
The game stayed neck and neck throughout the second half and especially in the last eleven minutes. The Bears had a 50-48 lead when senior guard, Christian Leach, decided to lead the team. He scored UPIKE’s next eight points in a row to make the score 58-51. Lindsey Wilson answered back with a run of their own to make it a 63-62 score UPIKE, with only five minutes left to play.
The games stayed within four points as the two teams battled back and forth to keep their seasons alive. The Bears had the lead going into the last seconds of the game when Bryan Wallace of Lindsey Wilson hit a 3-pointer from the top of the arch to take the lead with only two seconds left on the clock.
Leach led the team with 24 points and was the high scorer for the game. While Leach and Colt Chapman led the team in rebounds with nine a piece.
