Christian athletes praise

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes hosted guest speaker Philip Haywood, renowned football coach from Belfry, for its last meeting of the semester. His message for the upcoming Easter weekend is that you have to use your gifts and talents to your maximum potential to get to the great plans God has for you, but you have to put God in your life in order to do that.
“You may be the best athlete in the school, the best student in the classroom, or the prettiest, but eventually, you will always find someone better, smarter, and prettier than you,” said Haywood, “Success is doing the best that you can do with the abilities that God gave you.”
Rob Musick, campus chaplain and instructor of religion, led the opening prayer for FCA. Haywood’s closing prayer was an old Hebrew message. According to Haywood, those blessings that were given way back when are also our blessings too.
“Coach Haywood is a legend in high school football. It’s refreshing to hear him talk about something that’s not football related, but it’s something that can help everybody whether they’re an athlete or wherever they’re at in life,” said Caleb Noe, senior football player at UPIKE.
