Boo Newsome, a freshman at the University of Pikeville, led the Women’s Golf team to a record-finishing fourth place Wednesday, April 25 at the Bowling Green Country Club. This is the third time in the last five years that the women’s golf team has made a top five finish in the Mid-South Conference Championship. Although weather conditions were less than desirable, each golfer played a total of 54 holes. While Day 1 only allowed most groups to finish 9 holes, Day 2 consisted of a 27-28 hole round for every golfer. By Day 3, an 18 hole round was exhausting for every golfer in the field. Newsome shot 238 (82-77-79) to take fifth place overall in the tournament and earn herself a spot on First Team All-MSC honors. Adriane Mason, sophomore, was next in line, capturing 20th place with a score of 257 (84-85-88). Alexis Stambaugh, sophomore, in 24th place at 267 (86-88-93) and Lauren Vice tying for 25th with a showing of 271 (90-95-86) took the last two top 4 finishes on the team. Lauren Vice will be the only graduating senior this year. The Lady Bears’ season is over and will restart this coming fall.
