Women’s golf wins at Stonecrest

Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15, Stonecrest Golf Course was taken over by the UPIKE Women’s golf team who won its fourth team title, breaking a school record, by 39 strokes. They shredded three shots off the day one total for a two day score of 647(325-322) overall. Coach Nelson Scott seemed more than thrilled with their performance. Boo Newsome, freshman, was the individual medalist of the tournament by seven strokes after carding a two-day total of 151(75-76). Adriane Mason, sophomore, was close behind her, grabbing second with a 158 (81-77). The rest of the golfers finished tied for seventh and ninth. Sophomore Alexis Stambaugh and freshman Ashley Chaney tied for seventh with two-day totals of 169. Meanwhile, the only senior, Lauren Vice, took ninth with a score of 170 as she shot 85 both days consistently. Spalding took home second place with a 686 total while Thomas More finished third with a score of 691. The Woman’s golf team has one more tournament left, the MSC Championship, on April 22 through the 25 before finishing up the season.
