The third annual lip sync battle went down on Thursday, April 11. Communication students handed out endless, free hot dogs, chips, and cake. Meanwhile, MC Rob Rundle, senior, kept the crowd energetic and alive. With the help of DJ Denison Lowe, freshman, there wasn’t a quiet seat in Chrisman Auditorium.
The night kicked off with a flash mob dance by the communication students and professors led by Skylar Chapman, sophomore, and Rundle. The group resembled DreamWorks’ Trolls and danced to Justin Timberlake’s hit song, “Can’t Stop the Feeling.” The battle opened with Desean “AP” Brumfield, sophomore, and Sha’don Jones, sophomore.
Throughout the night, there were 13 awesome performances, including the honorable mention, Dr. Michael Holkum who presented “Godzilla” by Blue Oyster Cult. Out of all 13 acts, only one performance could bring home the first-place slot and a $75 gift card and that slot belonged to Braydon Sode, freshman; Nick Collum, sophomore; and Corbin Bentley, junior; with their impeccable performance of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. Second-place and a $50 gift card were given to William Wheeler, freshman, for his hilarious performance of the national anthem, Fergie’s edition. Third-place and a $25 gift card were awarded to Travis Stamper, senior for his crowd-moving performance of “Pour Some Sugar on Me” by Def Leppard.
