While most UPIKE students will be enjoying Hillbilly Days, one will be working as part of his internship. Robert Rundle is a senior communication major who is a media marketing intern with Pike County Tourism CVB. Rundle manages the social media pages for Pikeville Tourism and Pikeville’s Hillbilly Days. He has also created media content such as brochures, promotional videos and commercials for events in Pike County.
One of his final projects for his internship is collecting footage from this year’s Hillbilly Days festival. Rundle will be visiting with the different vendors, games, and visitors that gather in our community during this time. “Working side-by-side with Pike County Tourism CVB has opened my eyes to the economy here in the Pike County region.
It is astronomical how much there is to do here and not a lot of people understand that. We are constantly updating our website. We love this region and being a part of the marketing campaigns has been exhilarating,” Rundle said. Rundle was presented with the Outstanding Achievement in Communication award at this year’s Social Sciences Honors Night.
