Black Student Union hosts campus discussion

On Wednesday, Feb. 28, the BSU, hosted a campus discussion on “Living in America.” During the event attendees shared their personal struggles and the issues they have been faced with including discrimination, poverty and pressures.
“I think it’s important to have campus discussions because honestly, you can sit around with a few friends and talk about issues and stuff, but when you have it where everyone on campus comes together, it gives you a greater understanding. I found out things about people I hang out with every day—things that I never knew or even expected,” BSU President William Wheeler said.
Attendees enjoyed free pizza and other snacks while getting to know each other on a more intimate level.
“I hope that next time we can have even more people attend, especially student campus leaders. I think that it is important for them, especially, to come to these things because it’s always good to hear what people have to say and hear them talk about certain issues. By attending and listening, maybe they can help contribute to other events and change,” Wheeler added.
The next campus discussion will be held on March 29 at 7 p.m.
