Mens basketball steals another win from the Patriots
0The no. 3 nationally ranked UPIKE Bears beat the no. 24 Cumberlands Patriots on Saturday, Feb. 24, to keep the momentum going after clinching the conference title earlier in the week. The Bears are getting into a groove right before tournament play, with multiple players putting up double-digit points against the Patriots. Jayvian Delacruz led the Bears once again, with 22 points, as Darrion Leslie trailed him with 17 of his own Chase Parsley went hard as usual with 14, as Michael Chambers tried to catch Parsley with 13, and last but not least, Jordan Perry wrapped it up with 12. Although the Bears were out-rebounded, they were able to keep a good defense throughout the game by getting the Patriots to turn over the ball 15 times! With this win, UPIKE finished off the season 27-3, which is only the 7th time in program history to have 27 wins in a season. Parsley, the point guard, said “I am grateful and blessed to be a part of this team and season. I’m glad we could keep rolling right before tournament play. It is going to be a great ride for us, especially since we get to play right here at the Expo Center.”
