BUG holds discussion night

On Tuesday, Feb. 20, Blessed Unity of God (BUG) met for its weekly meeting with a special discussion night to answer the hard questions of life as a Christian and college student.
Courtney Bowman, junior, and William Wheeler III, freshman, opened with prayer. The topic for the night started with why people need Jesus in their lives. They first talked about forgiveness.
“Forgiveness is not an emotion. It’s a choice. After you make the choice, your heart leads you and you have the emotion following. That’s the important part. That first step of acknowledging that you need to forgive this certain person. The choice is the hardest part,” said Cortney Dixon, senior.
Several students in attendance brought up their strict upbringings and the time when their faith became their own and not their parent’s faith. There were also students who are youth leaders in their churches and hold a special place in the church. They talked about the stress of being accountable for themselves and the children in their churches and holding up to people’s standards. The students encouraged and uplifted each other in their daily walk with Christ.
BUG meets every Monday night at 8:30 in the chapel.
