On Friday, Oct. 27, the University of Pikeville’s communication program hosted its 7th annual Alumni Panel as part of Homecoming Week.
Nine former students gathered to share their experiences with about 75 current students. The alumni shared their experiences in the classroom as well as in the workplace. The panel mainly focused on the wide variety of career paths that could be followed with a communication degree and the importance of interships and portfolios.
The panel included Buddy Forbes, Joshua Little, Tigh Compton, Elizabeth Thompson, Lisa Compton, Dalton Stevens, Tiffany Grimm, Abigail Gibson, Mary Ann Fletcher, and Lauren Gregory.
After they shared their experience about the major and the many different career paths that accompany the major, they took several questions from students.
“I loved how much information the former students shared with us. I did not know that the field of Communication offered so many different career paths,” senior psychology major Allie Chaney said.
“It was a great feeling being welcomed back as an alumni. I love being able to talk to students. Once a Bear, always a Bear,” said Fletcher.
