Jenny Wiley Theatre opened The Addams Family for the first time on Friday the 13th.
This is the third time the professional and local community have teamed up to host a show at the theatre. There are also several UPIKE students: Matthew Conn, senior; Sarah Hackworth, senior; Grace Maynard, freshman; Daniel Lawniczak, sophomore; Austin Rose, sophomore; Dylan Martin, sophomore; Mackenzie Fraley, sophomore; Katy Newman, sophomore; and Audrey Caudill, sophomore, who serve a vital role in the show’s function including acting or working the backstage elements.
The Addams Family, directed by Joey Murray, is a musical about how no one is different even when coming from different backgrounds. This show is a spectacle and a true comedy.
“Being able to be a part of this process has been a huge thing for me as a director. Through all the hardness of conducting a big show as this, we have been able to remain together as a whole theatre family,” said Murray.
The show played through the entire weekend and will be continuing performances on the following dates: Tuesday, Oct. 17; Thursday, Oct. 19; Friday, Oct. 20; Saturday, Oct. 21; Tuesday, Oct. 24; Thursday, Oct. 26; Friday, Oct. 27; and Saturday, Oct. 28. All are at 7:30 p.m.
