0Written By Staff Report
This week, University of Pikeville undergraduate students will pitch their business ideas at What’s Up Wednesday. Participants have a chance to win $500 while they and others attending enjoy pizza. Pitch & Pizza will take place Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Student Lounge, Wickham Hall. Students competing will pitch a business idea in 60 seconds. The first place winner will receive $500 from the Kentucky Innovation Network Pikeville Office. The second place winner will receive $100 from Community Trust Bank. The third place winner will receive $100 worth of gift cards from Appalachian Wireless. There will also be a drawing for door prizes. The contest will be judged by Dr. David Snow, director, and Justin Prater, assistant director of the Kentucky Innovation Network Pikeville Office. The purpose of the event is to promote the idea of entrepreneurship across campus. Through entrepreneurship, graduates could build the economy by creating jobs instead of applying for jobs with corporations and existing businesses.
