‘Whose line is it anyway?’ UPIKE Band edition

The University of Pikeville Instrumental Band held a “Whose Line is it Anyway” session after the football game on Saturday, Sept. 17. Band students were invited to attend or participate by Band Director, Nathan Varney. Ten students attended the event, each of them participating in at least one of the “games” held. Although no credit is given to the band for participating, Varney emphasized the importance of having fun and building friendships
“It was just something fun to do. We’re always together playing music and rarely get to hang out and really spend time together,” said Varney. “I wanted those who attended to get to know each other better. Each of us there that night had an absolute blast.”
Bass player, Devin Syck, was one of the students who attended the event.
“It’s a nice change from always being in a professional setting,” said Syck. “I was nervous at first, but got the hang of everything quick. I can’t wait to do it again!”
Varney plans on having a few more “Whose Line Nights” with the band later in the semester. He hopes to eventually host an event in which the band performs skits for the UPIKE community.
