Billy Cochran, sophomore, is running for Student Government Association (SGA) President while triple majoring in communication and business with a double emphasis in healthcare management and business administration. Cochran is from Harlan County, Ky., and is looking forward to his future at UPIKE. He is currently an RA and hopes he can help the students one step further by becoming SGA President. “I want to be SGA President, so I can do what needs to be done, and I want to serve the student with more capacity than I am able to now,” said Cochran. Cochran received the emerging student leadership award presented at UPIKE’s ’15 excellence awards, and he also won 1st place in the State of Kentucky for Impromptu Speaking. Cochran has enjoyed his time at UPIKE, and he explained his time here as “challenging but rewarding with experiences that helped strengthen my character.” He loves this campus and hopes to help make it greater in the future. “As SGA President, I would like to create a more involved Student Government, working towards a more connected and safer campus,” said Cochran. After Cochran graduates from UPIKE, he wants to get a job with a pharmaceutical company, but he is open to any career in relation to healthcare.
