Women beat Tigers

The University of Pikeville women’s basketball team was back in action at home against the Georgetown College Tigers. The Bears come into this matchup with a record of 18-1 while the Tigers host a 7-11 record. The Bears looked to add another win to their outstanding season thus far.
The Bears came out on top of the conference rival Tigers by a score of 83-66. This was a huge win for the women’s team as they had recently suffered their first loss to Cambellsville. If it wasn’t for the great defensive effort on the Bears’ part, causing 34 turnovers to off set the poor shooting night, the Bears may not have seen such a favorable outcome. UPIKE struggled from the field only shooting 35 percent from the field and a rough 22 percent from the 3-point line. A confident 78 percent from the free throw line including 11-11 in the second half played a huge role in the bears coming out on top.
Individual stat leaders for UPIKE were Kandice Porter with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Aundrea Matchen with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Prisha Rogers with 15 points and 8 rebounds.
