The University of Pikeville’s women’s basketball team had a rough week, going 0-2 on the road against two tough opponents in the Mid-South Conference.
The more notable loss was handed to them on Thursday, Feb. 4, against unranked crosstown rival, the Tigers of Georgetown College. Although the game went back and forth throughout the first half, UPIKE seemed to have control of the tempo in the game.
The second half, however, was a game-changer. The Bears were out-rebounded by double-digits and shot a devastating percentage from the field.
Trying to overcome the adversity they faced, the Lady Bears made a short run in the end of the 3rd quarter. The run was not good enough to knock the Tigers off-balance. Georgetown dominated the 4th quarter, pushing the Bears into a 75-63 deficit and taking the win.
