Theatre class gets creative with masks
0Written By Kain Collins
Professor Kimberly Willard’s appreciation of theatre class made some costumes while they were studying the Italian Renaissance. Their assignment was to pick a stock character from Commedia Dell’Arte. Then, they had to make a mask to go with the costume. Guest speaker and costume designer at Jenny Wiley Theatre, Ryann Willard, assisted the class in making their masks. In Commedia Dell’arte, the masks are made to force the actors to really seep into their characters. The actors use different body movements to explain stories and tell emotions of actors.
