FMA to host festival

UPIKE’s Film and Media Arts program is hosting its first film festival in hopes of promoting filmmaking both on campus and in the tri-state area. The screenings begin Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m. and continues into Saturday, May 2 at 10 a.m. Throughout the two-day period the FMA program will be screening the various works submitted which will compete head to head for different prizes.
The screenings will be held in Booth Auditorium on the fifth floor of the Record Memorial Building. There will be $500 awarded in cash prizes that will be divided among different awards.
The festival was open to the community and coordinators encouraged entries from college students, local students, and anyone that would like to participate. The festival accepted pieces of all lengths and types of animation. This means the content of the participant’s entries could have been of a wide variety.
There will be four categories which awards will be divided. These award classes will include Middle School Awards, High School Awards, Undergraduate & Graduate Awards, and Professional Awards. Each category will be divided into different subcategories including Best Submission, Best Narrative, Best Documentary, Best Music Video, Best Animated Film, and the Audience Choice Award.
