Several of the University of Pikeville’s senior business students were invited to Northern Kentucky University (NKU) to attend its Haile-US Bank’s College of Business “Business Week, Ignite Your Future” event. The event lasted March 24-25 and was a huge success. The goal of the event was to provide business students with current practices and insights from key business leaders across a variety of industry sectors.
Students listened to experienced managers working in different atmospheres all over the world. The students learned about new and changing business techniques from many different keynote speakers. Individuals such as Anthony Munoz, NFL Hall of Famer, and Bill Samuels, Jr., chairman of Maker’s Mark Distillery, were there to give students knowledge about current practices in the industry.
Along with the keynote speakers for the event, many other industries such as Proctor and Gamble, the Cincinnati Reds, and PNC Bank also provided speakers throughout the event. The Coleman College of Business students that attended were Cassie Robinson, Leanna Mullins, Elisa Lopes, Marianna Jorge, Kayla Stamper, and Will Boyd.
The students were accompanied by Brenda Maynard, associate professor of business. The NKU College of Business hosted a reception for the UPIKE students on the last day of the event.
“The NKU College of Business were wonderful ambassadors to our school,” Maynard said.
The UPIKE students enjoyed the event and learned a lot.
“It was such a fun and informative event. We can’t wait to go back next year,” Maynard said.
