Students celebrate music

On Tuesday, March 31, the Collage Concert was held in Chrisman Auditorium on the University of Pikeville’s campus. The concert featured music educators, music students, and various musicians from Eastern Kentucky. This concert was dedicated to honoring 30 years of music in our schools.
The Collage Concert was a combination of musical talents. There were alto and soprano singers, multiple pianists, a couple of guitar players, and even a trumpet. The crowd seemed most impressed by Sarah McCoart (soprano) and Jennifer Hughes Bersaglia’s (piano) performance of “I’m Not Afraid of Anything.” Being that the audience was mostly college students, the lyrics of this song hit home for many.
Sophomore Malik Jacobs said, “The concert was very entertaining to me. It was a combination of different styles of music performed by young local and talented people.“
