The awards keep coming for University of Pikeville men’s basketball All-American Kenny Manigault as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) named him their 2015 NAIA Player of the Year in a press release on Tuesday.
Already named the National Player of the Year by officials from the NAIA and named the Mid-South Conference’s top player, Manigault can add an award from a group that sees players the most, the coaches.
The senior from Ridgeville, S.C., led UPIKE to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championship in Kansas City, Mo., where its season ended with a 28-6 overall record. Manigault was the team leader at 19.1 points per game and scored in double digits in all but four games.
The transfer from Wichita State registered 10 double-doubles this season and wreaked havoc on defense, topping the entire NAIA with 83 steals.
