Spiritual Life hosts special week

Do you find yourself needing spiritual guidance? If so, UPIKE’s Campus Ministries has you covered. Campus Ministries recently hosted Spiritual Emphasis Week that was intended to aid and support the spiritual growth of the student body. The week was highlighted by the showing of an award-winning documentary, for the BIBLE tells me so and “Worship on the Hill.”
The film, for the BIBLE tells me so, is a 2007 film by Daniel Karslake. The film chronicles the lives and families of several homosexual men and women, and the way their lifestyle impacted their faith. A controversial topic, especially in the church, was expertly covered in this diverse and well done documentary.
The documentary was shown Wednesday, Nov. 12 and hosted by Campus Chaplain Rob Musick. Musick was accompanied by First Christian Church’s Pastor Brian Nierman. Musick and Nierman hosted a Q&A panel directly after the film.
“I’ve seen this film several times, and it’s just as good every time,” said Nierman.
Thursday, Nov. 13 “Worship on the Hill” was celebrated. Former University of Pikeville student and a former Division 1 basketball player, Scottie Samarco, spoke. He also was an NAIA All American and professional athlete.
Samarco’s topic this night was “This Is Who We Are!”
“Worship on the Hill” also included skits from Blessed Unity of God, opening prayer by senior Shey Spencer, and time of praise by Facedown Worship.
