Anime Club gets active

UPIKE’s Wyrd Anime and Gaming Club continues to enjoy anime and gaming in the Pikeville area. The club started in 2009 and is led by Eva Gardner. As the president of the club, Gardner has excelled in making the Anime Club as accommodating and interesting for UPIKE students as can be.
This is, in part, due to a partnership with Page-3’s Game Zone. Page-3 is much more than just a comic book store. It also sells video games, movies, toys and hosts gaming events.
“They share information about us at their store, and we advertise them on campus,” said Gardner.
The Anime Club plans on being even more active this year and is excited to continue meeting. Gardner has two weekend events planned for the semester, the first of which will be on Oct. 25 in Armington 213. The club will be showing anime movies and enjoying each other’s company. The next event will be held sometime in November and will be all about gaming: both video games and card games.
“We’re a friendly group that likes to hang and broaden our horizons,” said Gardner.
Any students interested in joining the club should contact the club on its Facebook page or go to Record 408 on Fridays at 3 p.m.
