Sundy Best gave an unforgettable performance at the baseball field after the pep rally on Thursday night, Sept. 18. Hundreds of students gathered together to show support for the football team and to welcome alumnus Nick Jamerson and Kris Bentley, the members that make up the band, Sundy Best.
Savannah Looney, freshman, said, “This event made me feel proud to be a Bear. I believe things like this bring the school closer together, and I always meet new people, too.”
A lot of people were amazed that the lead singer of Sundy Best, Jamerson, was a UPIKE alumnus. Jamerson said during the concert that one of his songs was written in Page Hall, room 201.
Chelsey Potter, sophomore, said, “The fact that Nick attended the same school as we do only makes me feel closer to them and makes me love what they do even more.”
Jamerson also played football for UPIKE. During the concert, large portraits of action shots that were taken years ago were floating around the audience.
Austin Robinson, junior, said, “I am always involved in the events around campus and they’re fun, but in my opinion, this concert was definitely one of the highlights of the year.”
Jamerson was honored Friday, Sept. 19, at the President’s Gala receiving the Rising Star Alumni Award. He sang “My Old Kentucky Home” to kick off the gala. Later in the evening, he performed with Bentley.
On Saturday, Sept. 20, Jamerson performed the National Anthem prior to the football game.
Sundy Best will always be a part of the UPIKE family.
