FCA on campus
0For those who don’t know, FCA is a group of Christian athletes who get together once a week and have discussions. In last week’s meeting there was a guest speaker and the group discussed the situation the Philippines.
Rob Stapleton talked about the typhoon that had occurred and how they need to take their problems to Jesus. He said that some people had a problem with him putting images of the aftermath of the typhoon in the Philippines on the cross, but he believes you must always let God handle anything, especially when a disaster occurs like this.
Chaplain Rob Musick led the group in prayer by asking that God bless those affected in the Philippines. He asked for members to continue to pray for them and that no matter how hard things may get, that there are better days to come for them.
The guest speaker was Stanley Devoogd who helps run an organization in El Salvador. He started to talk to the group about basic facts about El Salvador such as that there are 1.3 million El Salvadorians in the United States. He also said that El Salvador is no bigger than Massachusetts, and its population is right around 6 million. But, Stanley’s main purpose in coming was to spread the word about the organization and the violence that occurs in El Salvador. CRISPAZ is a faith based organization dedicated to building bridges between the church and the community. CRISPAZ is a politically non-partisan, committed to non- violence and supportive of the faith journeys of others. The organization has been around for years. It really helps keep peace and help the people succeed in El Salvador. He called this organization an act of God.
