On Wednesday, Oct. 12, men’s basketball team hosted a scrimmage in the UPIKE gym against Athletes in Action (AIA). It was a great game, even though the Bears didn’t come up with the win, It was bigger than that. It was more about the coming together of the new and improved program and seeing what they could improve on and the potential they could see in moving forward this season. AIA was a great team full of former Division I athletes who are looking to get footage to go and play at the next level ,and while doing that, they use basketball to help spread the word of God along the way. It’s a great situation for those who are struggling finding themselves after college and are looking for a new start in life athletically. In return, they hear the word of God and save lives along the way. Clint Nwosuh enjoyed the scrimmage. “It was a great learning experience for us. I think we needed to see how fast the game is played at this level and how efficient next level players are,” he said. He said he felt that this helped them get through a stage most teams don’t get to see this early in the season. With the season around the corner it seems Coach Kelly Wells program are in full steam ahead in the right direction. Next up is Basketball Blast-Off on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
