Sunday, April 26, UPIKE’s cheerleading program held a tryout clinic looking for new talent to join the two-time Mid-South Conference champs. Head Coach Jeannie Stone is making sure she is recruiting the best straight out of high school to join the championship-winning program. The clinic allowed the athletes to showcase their talents ranging from stunts to gymnastics. Junior UPIKE cheerleader Kaci Wilcox was enthusiastic and hopeful about the clinic.
“I’m excited for the new year! There is a lot of new talent coming to UPIKE, and I’m looking forward to bringing home our third Mid-South Conference championship,” said Wilcox.
The clinic gave the coaches and current cheerleaders the opportunity to see how these young ladies would benefit the team and how well they could perform their current routines. Alongside benefitting the university’s squad, it also benefitted the attendees because it enabled them to work with a very capable and humble team. The clinic gave insights to the coaches, so they could make final decisions regarding the invitation-only tryouts that will be held over the summer.
